Snooty Penguins

These are a couple of snooty penguins I designed for the 2005 Orinda Film Festival.

I had a really great experience working on this project (Thanks for bringing me on board, Sam!), and I plan on showing some concept&development sketches in future posts.

We also made several animated commercials for the festival using my penguin designs - I'll show the making of those as well!

Wow, these penguins are hilarious! You certainly have a way with birds! I'm looking forward to the posts about the making of the commercials. Are they available to view anywhere?

(my pic of my old neighborhood theatre)
That is just too, too weird...I grew up there as a little kid(we moved when I was about to start 3rd grade. to L.A.). I saw "Jungle Book" and a lot of other Disney films there for the first time. Never thought I'd see that theatre mentioned--or find out they have an actual film festival! Nice designs.

Hey Chris - thanks! I don't think the commercials are available to view anywhere, but I will try to post them for a future post. They were a lot of fun to work on!

Hi Jenny - what a crazy coincidence! Unfortunately I didn't make it out to Orinda for the festival, but it sounds like a cool town!

Hey Marc--I'll tell ya, it's a tiny town--just about one street. Commercial street, that is. Most of Orinda is windy confusing hilly residential streets, sort of like Laurel Canyon.

Definitely post those commercials if you can.

Hi Jenny - Orinda sounds pretty peaceful - I like those tiny towns! I'd probably get lost in the windy streets though...
